> For the eighteenth consecutive year, COE's Student Counseling and Personnel Services program remains the nation's best counseling program, a feat unmatched by any other University of Maryland graduate program.

> Jennifer K. Rice, Ph.D. is named Dean of the College of Education.

> UMD and Bowie State University launch training program to increase diversity in education research.

> Former Education Secretary and President and CEO of The Education Trust, John B. King, Jr., joins UMD COE faculty as a visiting professor.

> UMD, in partnership with COE, opens the Center for Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education (CDIHE), a national hub for research, policy, professional standards, and consultation for universities on critical issues related to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

> COE launches Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement designed to foster collaborations between the university, school systems and educational organizations that focus on improving pre-K-12 education, the Center will serve as an incubator for innovative initiatives that address critical issues in public education in Maryland and the region, advance collaborative research partnerships and provide professional education programs.
