> One of the most prominent international professional organizations in the field of education honors Assistant Professor Chauncey Monte-Sano in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Monte-Sano was named the recipient of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division K Early Career Award based on her research on both how adolescents learn to write reasoned historical arguments and ways to facilitate pre-service and in-service program improvements that help history teachers learn to support the development of students evidence-based historical writing.

> COE Alumna Dr. Theresa R. Alban (Ph.D. ’02) named Superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools. Dr. Alban received her degree from the Department of Measurement and Statistics.

> Dr. John T. Guthrie, professor emeritus in the Department of Human Development, was elected to the National Academy of Education (NAEd), the nation’s prestigious honor society for scholars in the field of education.
