> A faculty committee organized to develop common goals for teacher education programs at the university issues a report in June, titled Ad Hoc Undergraduate Committee Report to the Council of Chairs: A Memorandum of Understanding. The report outlines ten goals of skills, knowledge, and competencies that each student graduating from a teacher education program should have at the time of graduation.

> Nathan Fox, Human Development, establishes the Child Development Laboratory within the college.

> The College holds its first Multicultural/Mainstreaming all-day conference in an effort to educate student teachers on these issues.

> The Department of Human Development/Institute for Child Study hosts an international colloquium on Teacher Education in Europe in November. Educators from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal, and Germany offer presentations about teacher education methods in their home countries.

> Lee Knefelkamp, Department of Counseling and Personnel Services, is the recipient of the university Distinguished Scholar-Teacher Award.
