> The College faculty deliberates asking the University for a new building to replace the College's existing accommodations in the Skinner Building.

> A sub-committee of the Planning and Advisory Council is formed to study the creation of a new Childhood Education Center and renovations to the Skinner Building.

> The College of Education approves a new course sequence in Special Education.

> A plaque is dedicated in the University Nursery/Kindergarten School to honor Edna McNaughton.

> McDonnell Hall , which served as the College of Education building from 1940 to 1948, is razed to make room for Tydings Hall.

> The International Cooperation Administration funds a program organized by the College for visiting educators from Turkey.

> A sub-committee on Curriculum and Courses Committee of the University Senate studies the desirability of establishing a School of Library Science. This sub-committee recommends that a Department of Library Science be established within the College of Education, which is seconded by the Planning and Advisory Council in March. (Library Science becomes an established division of the College by 1961).

> Fire Protection curriculum transfers from the College of Engineering to the Industrial Education department.

> The College of Education, Department of Music, and College of Special and Continuation Studies co-sponsor two six-week summer workshops in Choral and Band Music .

> Nursing and Dental Education programs are dropped from the curricula of the College of Education.
