> Edna McNaughton , a pioneer in Early Childhood Education, resigns from the College. Citing the growth of the University Nursery School during Professor McNaughton's term and a need to look at Early Childhood Education at Maryland, the Planning and Advisory Committee appoints a Committee on Relations of Childhood Education and Elementary Education and the Function of the Laboratory School for further study.

> The College participates in the University's Centennial Exhibition in the Student Activities Building (Cole Field House) and sets up exhibits pertaining to the history of the College and its programs. > The W.T. Grant Foundation awards $9,000 for three fellowships for advanced training at the Institute for Child Study under the supervision Daniel Prescott.

> A special committee of the Planning and Advisory Council of the College meets with officials from the Maryland State Department of Education and from other academic departments in the University system (Speech, Physical Therapy, Psychiatric Institute) to discuss plans for a Special Education program.

> A subcommittee of the Planning and Advisory Council meets with representatives of the National Science Foundation about improving science teaching.

> The Curriculum Laboratory is set up in the Skinner Building to house textbooks, course information, and study materials.

> The College of Education cooperates with the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers to sponsor a Parent-Teacher Association Summer Conference from July 9-11.
