> A special subcommittee of the Administrative Board of the University issues a report on the effects of the case, Brown vs. Board of Education, on existing segregation at the University of Maryland. The Subcommittee's report recommends that the Board of Regents seek a ruling from the Attorney-General of the State of Maryland regarding the admission of African-American applicants beginning in the summer session, 1954. The decision to admit African-American students to all schools and colleges means qualified applicants would be considered for admission regardless of race.

> The College establishes a Graduate Committee on Advanced Professional Programs which prepares an accreditation report for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The College establishes a Graduate Committee to review policies and procedures.

> The Skinner Building houses the offices of the College of Special and Continuation Studies (University College).
