> Around 1940, the College of Education moves from the Agriculture (Skinner) Building to McDonnell Hall .

> The College institutes a program leading to the Master's of Education (M.Ed.).

> University President Byrd approves the allocation of the entire second floor of the Administration Building (now East Hall) in Baltimore for the Industrial Education program.

> Around 1940, a new Home Economics building (known today as Marie Mount Hall ) is constructed on the Mall.

> The Maryland Plan for the National Defense Program is launched in the state to train workers for industry and occupations essential to national defense. The state of Maryland enrolled 5000 trainees under 250 instructors. This program has tremendous implications for the Department of Industrial Education. It increased the need for qualified industrial education instructors since many of the existing teachers had been drafted into military service.

> The College begins to offer master's programs in Adult Education, Educational Administration and Supervision, Guidance and Personnel, and Comparative Education.
